Weelcome
to another season of Adult Formation at Good Shepherd. Ours is a
community of worship, service and lifelong learning. In this spirit, we
invite you to take a close look at our offerings.
We have been listening. In this flyer there are programs, schedules and
formats that will resonate with our life experiences. Join us as we
explore our faith from a variety of perspectives with the knowledge that
adult formation should always be meaningful and practical.
Help us to help
you, by registering or reserving space in these offerings at least one
week prior to the event. This allows us to have appropriate space and
resources available for all participants.
To reserve a space in any of the offerings, phone or email one of us at
the addresses below. If there is a fee, checks should be made payable to
Good Shepherd and will count as a confirmed reservation.
Watch the bulletin and website

for events draw near.

Adult Faith Formation
The aim of adult formation is to help people discern,
respond to and be transformed by the presence of God in their lives, and
also to work for the continuing transformation of the world in light of
this perception of God. Adult formation focuses on Jesus Christ as the
great sign or sacrament of God's presence in human history and, more
specifically, in the Church which is the People of God and the Body of
Christ. The Good Shepherd faith community strives to provide
opportunities for the diverse needs of adult members, respecting the
broad spectrum of lifelong continuing formation and stages of faith. As
with our other formation programs, a fee may be assessed for our adult
formation and retreats so we can offer you quality and comprehensive
programs. Watch the bulletin and newsletter for upcoming Adult Formation
Programs during the coming year.

Monday, January 7, 7:00 - 8:30
The first part of training focuses on the way Catholics have
historically viewed the Eucharist, especially focusing on the teachings
that we are called to be transformed by the Body and Blood of Christ,
and made members of that same Body when we receive the gift of Christ.
The second part of the training is for those interested in giving
Eucharist to others, either at Mass or by visiting the sick.

Personal Enrichment
What Keeps You Awake At
Night?
Mondays, January 7, 14, 21 at 7:00 in the Library
Presented by Robert and Donna Bacic,
three nights will help you identify WHAT keeps you awake and how you can
handle it. Robert is a religious educator and mediator who serves as
Pastoral Associate at the Church of the Holy Cross in Overland Park.
Donna is a clinical social worker in private practice. Cost: $10 per
session or $20 for the series; payable at the session.
January 7: Is It Not
Having Enough Time? Families,
work, friendships, volunteer commitments, Church and self-care vie for
our attention. The demands of time don’t keep us awake at night; they
just never let us go to bed. So why add this commitment to an already
hectic schedule? Because at its core, time is a gift from God and this
program is an opportunity to consider the spiritual side of time. We
won’t be looking at the clock as much as we will be looking at our
souls. Unless you’re going to give yourself a night of total rest &
relaxation, don’t miss this opportunity
January
14: Is It Worry? In his Sermon on
the Mount, Jesus tells his listeners not to worry about their lives, but
we don’t listen. Our health, our family’s well being, our bank
accounts, our past & future mistakes are just a few of the things that
preoccupy our thoughts and distract us from our daily responsibilities.
This program will take a look at why we worry, how worry affects us and
what we can do about it. The one thing you don’t have to worry about is
being the only person who worries about worry! You’ll be in good
company, so join us.
January 21: Is It a
Problem You’re Facing? This
program will describe the attitudes and the skills necessary to stay on
the positive side of problems. You will learn a problem solving method
that is simple and practical, but able to address those problems that
are complex and hard to get a handle on. Finally, the role that God
plays in problem solving will be on the agenda, too. There will be lots
to think about and lots to discuss, so be sure to come.
